Independent contractor rule

Proposed replacing the 2024 test for who counts as an employee under federal wage law with the 2021 version, which makes it easier to classify workers as independent contractors, who aren't covered by minimum wage and overtime rules.

How to roll it backAgency or regulatory action. Reversing it takes new rulemaking or policy guidance, usually with notice and comment, and it must hold up in court.
