A to-do list for the next Democratic trifecta

Rolling Back Trump

Every square is something Donald Trump or his administration signed, ordered, or put his name on since January 20, 2025. Some can be undone with a signature. Others will take an act of Congress, new rules, or years of rebuilding.

Proclamations · Section 232 · Feb 10, 2025 · Economy

Steel, aluminum, and auto tariffs

Where it standsIn effect

Raised tariffs on steel and aluminum to 25% in February 2025 and to 50% in June 2025, and added a 25% tariff on imported cars and auto parts (March 2025), a 50% tariff on copper (July 2025), a 10% tariff on softwood lumber (September 2025), and a 25% tariff on heavy trucks (October 2025), with further increases in 2026. Unlike the emergency tariffs the Supreme Court struck down, these rest on a national security trade law and remain in effect.

How to roll it backA president can lift or lower these tariffs by proclamation. Congress can limit the national security trade law so tariffs require its approval.

About

How we choose

Anything Trump or his administration has done since January 20, 2025 that a future administration or Congress could reverse, limit, or keep from happening again. It goes on the list when official records document it or at least two major news outlets report it.

How it's updated

Every morning we check the Federal Register, new laws, court rulings, and major news. New orders are confirmed by the Federal Register, AP, or Reuters before they're added. Descriptions come from the documents themselves and independent reporting, not White House press materials.

Sources and corrections

Every square and court ruling links to its source: official records first, then wire services and major national outlets. No advocacy groups, opinion pieces, or niche publications. Sources and court statuses are re-checked daily, and errors are corrected when found.
