Visa ban on Palestinians

Where it standsIn effectSince Jan 1, 2026, visas are suspended for anyone traveling on Palestinian Authority documents, with narrow exceptions (see "New travel ban"). On Sept 16, 2026, the State Department extended visa sanctions on PLO and Palestinian Authority officials.

Halted visitor visas for people from Gaza, including medical visas, told embassies to refuse most Palestinian passport holders, and revoked visas for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and about 80 officials before the UN General Assembly.

How to roll it backExecutive action. A new president can revoke or replace it with a signature on day one.
