A to-do list for the next Democratic trifecta

Rolling Back Trump

Every square is something Donald Trump or his administration signed, ordered, or put his name on since January 20, 2025. Some can be undone with a signature. Others will take an act of Congress, new rules, or years of rebuilding. Each square shows who it affects.

Withheld $1.4B in research funds

Where it standsIn effect

The National Science Foundation withheld $1.4 billion that Congress had intended for research over the past year — 19% of its primary research budget, far more than the under-$175 million carried over in either of the two prior years — and, according to two people with knowledge of the administration's plans, the White House wants to redirect the money toward administration priorities including artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Congress funds the NSF on two-year cycles, so the agency can still spend the money. An NSF spokesman said it carried over the funds "to invest in agency priorities that are aligned with broader administration initiatives." Rep. Zoe Lofgren, the top Democrat on the House Science Committee, called it "a dramatic attack on the science enterprise that has served us very well since World War II."

How to roll it backCongress can tighten appropriations law to require agencies spend research funds within the fiscal year Congress intended, or specify how carryover funds may be used.

About

How we choose

Anything Trump or his administration has done since January 20, 2025 that a future administration or Congress could reverse, limit, or keep from happening again. It goes on the list when official records document it or at least two major news outlets report it.

How it's updated

Every morning we check the Federal Register, new laws, court rulings, and major news. New orders are confirmed by the Federal Register, AP, or Reuters before they're added. Descriptions come from the documents themselves and independent reporting, not White House press materials.

Sources and corrections

Every square and court ruling links to its source: official records first, then wire services and major national outlets. No advocacy groups, opinion pieces, or niche publications. Sources and court statuses are re-checked daily, and errors are corrected when found.

Independent project, not affiliated with any party or campaign.

What others see

Like any website, this page has to be delivered to you. Our host, Cloudflare, handles that and processes standard request information, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver and protect the site. We see only overall totals, like the number of visits in a day. The site's fonts come from Google Fonts, which receives the same kind of request information. Links to sources, Congress, and social networks take you to those sites, which have their own policies.
